TVUPack Powered By Vislink Hybrid Technology Awarded At IBC

TVU Networks and Vislink today announced that the TVUPack Powered by Vislink Hybrid Technology is the recipient of two NewBay Media Best of Show Awards, presented at IBC 2014 by TV Technology Europe magazine and TVB Europe magazine.

The NewBay Media Best of Show Awards are evaluated by a panel of engineers and industry experts, and are selected based on innovation, feature set, cost efficiency and performance in serving the industry. Only a small number of products were chosen for the Best of Show Awards from dozens of new products in competition.

“Broadcasters worldwide are recognizing the benefits of seamless transmission through hybrid technology. This award showcases the collaborative teamwork between Vislink and TVU that ensures our customers have the right tools to address their most challenging video applications. This new Pack adds to Vislink’s current hybrid portfolio, and is an important part of the Vislink solution that provides end-to-end video contribution, management and distribution solutions,” commented Mike Payne, CEO of Vislink.

“We are thrilled that our partnership with Vislink is garnering recognition from some of the most influential voices in our industry. Because of the tremendous interest in this joint offering, we are offering an easy upgrade path for current TVU and Vislink customers looking to embrace this innovative hybrid solution. It is clear that broadcasters are looking for greater reliability and resiliency for each transmission and TVU and Vislink provide a powerful solution to accomplish this end,” said Paul Shen, CEO, TVU Networks.” TVU is committed to providing flexible IP transmission solutions that go beyond cellular to deliver HD video and ease broadcasters’ transition to an IP-based workflow and infrastructure.”

The joint solution offered by TVU and Vislink was an immediate hit at IBC 2014, demonstrating the two companies’ commitment to meet the growing demand for highly resilient and portable newsgathering equipment. This unique joint offering integrates the TVUPack TM8200 and TVU’s Inverse StatMux IP transmission protocols to combine multiple data connections with Vislink’s hybrid microwave IP technology. This solution combines best-of-breed cellular and IP microwave transmission technologies into a single mobile lightweight backpack, enabling broadcasters to transmit HD video simultaneously over cellular and microwave connections with sub-second latency.

The solution includes a number of industry-first features:

 • The system supports up to six 3G/4G LTE connections, as well as 2 or 7 GHz microwave, and enables simultaneous broadcast over cellular and microwave networks. This ensures that each transmission is capable of utilizing the maximum amount of available bandwidth.

• Users can add or remove microwave or cellular connections seamlessly without interrupting the transmission.

• Simple one button operation eliminates the need for in-field configuration.

• The solution is the first to offer Vislink microwave transmission functionality in a backpack.

Vislink and TVU products are synonymous with live video broadcasts around the world. Our solutions in microwave, satellite and IP transmissions give broadcasters powerful and reliable tools to distribute live video content to broadcast, online, and mobile platforms. Vislink and TVU Networks products have been used to deliver professional-quality live HD footage of a number of important events around the world including the 2010 World Cup, the London Summer Games, U.S. presidential elections, Hurricane Sandy, the 2013 Papal conclave, the Sochi Winter Olympics, and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

“We are enormously proud of our Best of Show recipients,” says TV Technology Europe Publisher Steve Connolly. “Recognition with an award at the IBC Show from NewBay Media’s Broadcast & Video Group is a strong vote of confidence and admiration from our leading industry publications.”
