TVU Networks and Vislink today announced that the TVUPack Powered by Vislink Hybrid Technology is the recipient of two NewBay Media Best of Show Awards, presented at IBC 2014 by TV Technology Europe magazine and TVB Europe magazine.
The NewBay Media Best of Show Awards are evaluated by a panel of engineers and industry experts, and are selected based on innovation, feature set, cost efficiency and performance in serving the industry. Only a small number of products were chosen for the Best of Show Awards from dozens of new products in competition.

The joint solution offered by TVU and Vislink was an immediate hit at IBC 2014, demonstrating the two companies’ commitment to meet the growing demand for highly resilient and portable newsgathering equipment. This unique joint offering integrates the TVUPack TM8200 and TVU’s Inverse StatMux IP transmission protocols to combine multiple data connections with Vislink’s hybrid microwave IP technology. This solution combines best-of-breed cellular and IP microwave transmission technologies into a single mobile lightweight backpack, enabling broadcasters to transmit HD video simultaneously over cellular and microwave connections with sub-second latency.
The solution includes a number of industry-first features:
• The system supports up to six 3G/4G LTE connections, as well as 2 or 7 GHz microwave, and enables simultaneous broadcast over cellular and microwave networks. This ensures that each transmission is capable of utilizing the maximum amount of available bandwidth.
• Users can add or remove microwave or cellular connections seamlessly without interrupting the transmission.
• Simple one button operation eliminates the need for in-field configuration.
• The solution is the first to offer Vislink microwave transmission functionality in a backpack.
