The launch of this past Friday, January 11, satisfactorily concludes the deployment of the Iridium NEXT constellation of satellites, in polar orbit 780 km above the Earth’s surface. The network, made up of 66 active satellites and nine spares in orbit, as well as six more stored on Earth, provides voice and data services with global coverage, including all terrestrial, ocean and polar regions.

SENER, a supplier involved in the main satellite constellations and in the NewSpace sector, has designed, manufactured and tested the Ka-band telemetry and remote control antennas built into each of the 81 Iridium NEXT satellites.
