SINT-NIKLAAS, Belgium, and PUNE, India, 25 April 2016. Newtec – a specialist in designing, developing and manufacturing equipment and technologies for satellite communications – and Tech Mahindra a specialist in digital transformation, consulting and business re-engineering, today announced they have entered into an agreement which will see the two companies cooperate on future projects.

MPThe contract signing took place earlier today as part of the Economic Mission from Flanders to India, which is headed by His Excellency Geert Bourgeois, Minister-President of the Government of Flanders. The trip will last five days and has 55 companies and around 85 people in its delegation.

Newtec and Tech Mahindra – which has a strong and ever-growing presence in Belgium – will initially work together on a contract awarded by the UAE based satellite operator Yahsat. Newtec will supply its Newtec Dialog® multiservice VSAT platform, including VSAT baseband hubs and user terminals, while Tech Mahindra will provide the installation and configuration of the IT applications (OSS and BSS), which will work with Newtec’s satellite transmission solution, offering a complete broadband solution for consumers and businesses in Brazil.  “The Yahsat project is of major importance for the satellite communications industry in Brazil and marks the beginning of what we hope will be a long partnership with Tech Mahindra,” said Serge Van Herck, CEO of Newtec, which is based in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. “The combined expertise from both companies will ensure Yahsat is offered the most efficient and best value solution.”

Yahsat will use Newtec’s and Tech Mahindra’s offering to provide next-generation satellite broadband and IP connectivity services for its customers – from consumers and enterprises using affordable YahClick satellite broadband service, to the provision of backhaul solutions for telecom operators and ISPs. The services are due for commercial launch in mid-2017.

Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) is a satellite communications system that serves home and business users. This satellite sends and receives signals from an earth station computer that acts as a ‘hub’.

“We are excited about associating with Newtec to strengthen our reach in the Belgium market to drive greater synergies and deliver more value to customers,” said CP Gurnani, MD & CEO, Tech Mahindra. “Driven by innovation, creativity, technological expertise, makes the business landscape of Belgium remarkably varied. We are happy that the government remains committed to focus on the competitiveness of Belgium as an international business hub and look forward to creating and contributing to more such prospects.”
